AWA was founded in 2017 by Maggie Maitriborirak, a Thai social entrepreneur. She sought to translate her passion for Asian local culture into a social enterprise that could both promote and preserve the traditional healing techniques that she encountered both within Thailand and during her travels throughout Asia. Growing up in various countries enables Maggie to get exposed to different cultures and local practices. Maggie strongly believes that these traditions of self-care are all the more relevant to our fast-paced lives today, and hopes that the same technologies that keep us constantly connected can also be used to promote and preserve aspects of Asia’s long-established folk wisdom.
After a decade of working in a fast-paced investment banking environment in Hong Kong and Singapore, Maggie went to pursue an MBA from University of Oxford. But it is the University of Life that she takes credit for her wisdom, empathy and passion. In her free time, she enjoys reading, cooking, traveling and spending time in nature. She is also a keen Electone player. Currently, Maggie resides in Bangkok with her 3 cats. She loves working in a multi-cultural environment and is now working as a senior strategist in Travel Technology sector.
